While the common-law partnership constitutes two individuals either of same-sex or different sex, and both have been living together for at least one year. In Canada, both relationships have the same legality. However, the requirements of legal proof involved in verifying the status of relationship with an applicant are different for both of them.
For a marital relationship, a valid marriage certificate and some photographs of the marriage ceremony are sufficient for verification. Once the sponsored person matches all requirements, then the next step involves the filing of the application form, which is easily available on the official website of the immigration department of Canada.
