PNP’s updates bring new possibilities for Express Entry candidates
Undoubtedly, Canada is an amazing country to immigrate, and it’s both the Express Entry program and provincial Nominee program contributes a lot in making Canada immigration a big hit. Federal Express Entry is a point-based immigration program with three main economic categories to manage the applications of skilled and experienced foreign workers – Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. So far in 2019, Express entry issued 67,300 invitations for Canada Permanent Residence through its regular Express entry draw.
Similarly, in the third quarter of 2019, the provincial nominee programs also remain very active to nominate express entry candidates through their express entry linked immigration streams. All the Canadian provinces except Quebec nominate eligible candidates through Provincial Nominee Programs. PNPs are the best option for those express entry candidates who have not qualified latest Canada express entry cut off 2019 or Canada Express entry minimum points.
Moreover, to enhance the quality of influx of immigrants, all of them have continued to improve their respective programs through updates. So if you are planning to apply for Canada PR visa program from India 2019, then keep an eye on these updates.
The following is the list of some PNP’s updates in the past quarter which directly going to influence the selection of Express entry candidates for Canada PR.
- Ontario Tech Draws
In July, the Canadian province Ontario introduced tech draws to target skilled foreign workers with previous work experience in any of the following six tech occupations:
- Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
- Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
- Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
- Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
- Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
- Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)
After the announcement, Ontario issued invitations to 1,623 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through its first OINP Tech draw on July 12, 2019. Again, within the short duration, it released its new draw on August 1 with another 1,773 invitations for provincial nominations. OINP’s Human Capital Priorities Stream 2019 conducted these draws with a minimum requirement of Express Entry profile. A job offer is not mandatory; however, candidates need to match other federal and provincial criteria.
- Eligible occupations in Saskatchewan:
In September, the Canadian province Saskatchewan introduced another development in its PNP by opening its two most popular categories, Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand immigration to candidates with work experience in more than 200 skilled occupations. After the announcement, the number of eligible occupations jumped from 19 to 218. These changes are required to allow more flexibility in the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program processing steps and to meet the shortage of labor in the province’s market.
Like Federal Skilled Worker Program Express Entry, there is no mandatory requirement of a job offer under either sub-category. Candidates only need to show a minimum of one year of work experience in an eligible occupation, related to their field of study, among other requirements. However, SINP’s express entry stream requires Express entry profile after qualifying minimum eligibility points for Canada Express entry.
Following the announcement, on September 25, 2019, Saskatchewan invited 769 candidates for its 100 in-demand occupations like including civil and chemical engineers, medical radiation technologists, psychologists and information systems analysts and more through its Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand pathway.
- New Brunswick introduces targeted Express Entry searches
At the end of July, New Brunswick, announced that it would also commence occasional, targeted searches of candidates registered under Express Entry pool to meet the demands of labor market in the province. This new development will be an addition to the Expression of Interest (EOI)-based invitations issued through Express Entry linked stream of New Brunswick Nominee Program (NBNP) for Canada PR.
- Alberta’s lower CRS score:
Unlike higher FSWP points, Alberta released draws with CRS score as low as 300. Alberta Express entry draw has witnessed its highest CRS score of 425 so far in 2019; this was comparatively lower than the lowest cut-off score of 438 in all federal Express Entry draw so far in 2019.
- Five Manitoba draws in conjunction with Express Entry:
In the past decade, the Canadian province of Manitoba issued a total of 483 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs)s through its five draws. Its draws primarily focused candidates having profiles in Manitoba’s streams – Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas, and the International Education Stream.
