- He/she must be at least 18 years old for sponsoring someone to Canada
- He/she must hold a study permit or work permit in Canada
- He/she must have funds to bear the expenses of dependents after they migrate to Canada
- He/she should not be accused of any criminal record
- He/she should not be accused of not paying alimony or child support payments in past
- He/she should not be bankrupt
