- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be legally married to the sponsor
- Must have medical certificate and police clearance certificate
Requirements for sponsoring common-law partner to Canada:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have a living relationship of a minimum of 12 consecutive months
- Must have medical certificate and police clearance certificate
Requirements for sponsoring dependent child to Canada:
- Must be under 22 years of age
- Must not have a spouse or common law partner
Children 22 years old or older can also get the sponsorship for Canada after meeting the following two requirements:
- Unable to support themselves financially due to a mental or physical condition
- Since before the age of 22, must be depended on parents for financial support
Requirements for sponsoring relatives to Canada:
- A PR or Canadian citizen can sponsor an orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild. For that sponsored person
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must not have a spouse or common law partner
- Must be related by blood or adoption
- Both mother and father must not be alive
